What is Ultrasonic Liposuction
By HWP
Liposuction has long been used to remove stubborn areas of subcutaneous fat that seem resistant to any attempts and diet and exercise. If you have lost a great deal of weight and are now at a stable weight, you may well still be frustrated by pockets of fat that just don't seem to want to shift. Liposuction is a great way to target these areas in order to give you the body you have worked towards. Over the years the techniques and tools used in liposuction have developed and improved and one result of this is ultrasonic liposuction.
Ultrasonic liposuction works on the same basis as normal liposuction in that it's goal is to remove stubborn pockets of excess fat. Liposuction produces great results, however the surgery itself also results in a fair amount of trauma to the body in the area that has been worked on. There will be bruising, tenderness and swelling which will cause discomfort in the initial post-surgery stages. While it is not possible to avoid these side-effects totally, ultrasonic liposuction certainly results in less trauma as the fat is broken down by ultrasound before it is removed from the body meaning there is less need for the pushing and poking that is carried out with normal liposuction, which can lead to extensive bruising in and around the area being treated.
Because of this it is also possible to remove greater amounts of fat from larger areas using ultrasonic liposuction that it would be with standard liposuction. This is great for people who may want to have excess fat removed from say the thighs, buttocks and stomachall in one go. While of course this will still be a major procedure it is possible to do, however if the area and amount of fat to be removed is considered great by the surgeon they well recommend you have this done over a couple of sessions with a month or two in between. One of the beauties of ultrasonic liposuction is that is can be carried out under local anesthetic, meaning that having more than one treatment doesn't involve having to go under general anesthetic repeatedly.
Your surgeon will be able to advise you, having taken into account the area you want treated, the amount of fat there is to be removed and other factors such as age, health and skin condition as to whether you are a suitable candidate for ultrasonic liposuction.
