Nutrition for facial skin care

There are so many lotions and potions around all offering us fantastic skin, promising to reduce wrinkles and give us a fresh youthful appearance. These are all very well and good, but they don't really address the cause of our lacklustre skin, merely solve part of the problem by making everything look OK. Our diet and digestive systems are the most important factors when it comes to having great looking skin, and by making a few small adjustments to your diet you can have amazing skin without the need for pots and pots of facial skin care products.

It is all too easy to just grab a pre-packed sandwich and a packet of crisps at lunchtime, washed down with a fizzy drink especially when time is short or you are on the move. It is this kind of convenience food that is wreaking havoc with our skin and our digestive systems, leaving us feeling sluggish, bloated and greasy from the inside out.

Part of the problem is the fact that a lot of the food we eat needs to be convenient, so we can eat on the move, which in itself is a terrible way to go about eating. If you can find just 15 minutes to sit down and eat your lunch away from distractions and work, you will find it much more satisfying.  Try switching your pre-packed sandwich for a home-made sandwich, a very small adjustment you may think, but this way you get to choose every single aspect of your sandwich. Try using homous instead of butter as a spread, add some grated carrot and cress with some black pepper and hey presto, a much healthier sandwich. Have some chopped vegetables with it instead of crisps, carrots and cucumer are lovely and crunchy and also wonderfully healthy. For your drink, have water - if you can't stand plain water then add a little bit of fruit juice to it. Try and avoid squash as it is high in sugar, and stay well clear of the many flavoured waters available as most of them contain toxic sweeteners.

This is just one way to start eating for your skin. Try and include a lot more vegetables and fruit in your diet, switch over to organic produce where possible and eat red meat only very occaisionally.  Eating oily fish three times a week will also do wonders not only for your skin but also your general moods and wellbeing.   Of course, tea, coffee and alcohol are also things that should be avoided, but if this isn't possible then limit them to two cups a day - a glass of wine in the evening never hurt anyone, but make sure it is only a glass and not a bottle!!

While a lot of people don't feel they have the time to change their diets in order to help with their facial skin care, it is in fact quite easy once you start. Making a few changes a week so you ease into it gradually, will have you eating heathily before you know it and your skin will reflect this change in a matter of weeks. Just by looking in the mirror every morning you will realise that you are doing the right thing by your body and that you are eating your way to a healthier you.

I agree that we have to work on our individual diets to help improve our skin, like you said. But it might benefit your readers for you to provide more details on those 'few small adjustments' to one's diet so one could have 'amazing skin without the need for pots and pots of facial skin care products.' I'm into skin care, as well, which is why I found your hub.
