How to copy Wii games so you always have a backup

So, first things first - the whole point of this is to help you to create copies of your Wii games for your own personal use. It is not so you can create illegal copies of Wii games to share or even try and sell. Copying games in order to share or sell is illegal and can land you in a whole heap of hot water. It is quite a simple process once you have the right equipment and of course know what you are doing when it comes to copy Wii games.

Why would you want to create backups of your Wii games? Well, we all know that games are expensive, even if you have traded in an old one so it is really important to take care of the discs so they don't get damaged. However, kids, dogs, hell even grandparents get their hands on these things and before you know it it's suddenly a very expensive frisbee or coaster or has been buried in the yard somewhere never to be seen again. This is why it is so good to have a backup copy. In fact if your discs reside in a "high danger" house then you might even consider putting the originals away somewhere very safe and just keep your copies with the console.

The first thing you need to do in order to copy your Wii games is get the right disk drive, LG drives are the best drives on the market for burning Wii game copies, and they will give you perfectly burnt copies everytime. The next step is to download some software called Raw Dump 2.0, this will enable you to extract the ISO file from your game disc and then burn it. The ISO file is an image file that contains all the data on the disc and it is this file that enables you to make an exact copy of the game.

Once you have downloaded Raw Dump, all you have to do is insert your game disc, open Raw Dump and click on "start dump", now this part may take some time so be patient, when it is finished you will get a message window pop up to let you know. The file it has created will be called "[name of game].ISO" once you have this the most important thing to do is to check the file size - for Wii games it should be 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes). If the file is not this size then it is not worth wasting a disc trying to burn it - all Wii games are this size, if there is a difference then unfortunately the dump hasn't worked properly and you will need to try again.

Now for the final stage - open your disc burning software, if it brings up an automated help box for burning discs close out of this and manually select burn image. It will then prompt you to find the image file you want to burn which will be the ISO file Raw Dump has created for you, it is a good idea to burn the disc slowly to prevent any possible errors, although on high quality DVD's this doesn't seem to be a problem.

Hey presto - job done. Hopefully by following the above you will have all you need to perfectly copy Wii games so you never need worry about losing or damaging them again.
